The New England Patriots aren't done building their roster.
Less than 24 hours after unveiling their initial 53-man group, New England went back to work Monday, claiming tight end Cameron Latu from the Philadelphia Eagles and linebacker Darius Muasau from the New York Giants off waivers.
The two additions were confirmed on the NFL's waiver transaction report and give Mike Vrabel's roster another round of changes just eight days before the Patriots open the regular season.
Neither claim qualifies as a headline-grabbing acquisition. Both, however, make sense when viewed through the lens of what New England has been building under Vrabel: competition at the bottom of the roster, special teams value and players who offer more than one path onto the field.
Latu arrives with intriguing physical tools and experience in multiple offensive roles. Muasau brings considerably more NFL defensive experience, including 18 starts over his first two seasons with the Giants.
And with two players coming in, corresponding moves will be required to keep New England at the 53-man roster limit .
