The New England Patriots have continued making moves this offseason.
They announced that they have released tight end Mitch Van Vooren to make room for offensive lineman Greg Van Roten , who the team officially signed on Tuesday .
Van Vooren began his NFL career with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in 2025. He also spent time in the Cleveland Browns ' ranks prior to signing a one-year, $885,000 deal with the Patriots in free agency on July 22. Van Vooren has yet to play in an NFL game in his career.
New England will move forward with a tight end room consisting of Hunter Henry , Eli Raridon, CJ Dippre , Jack Westover and Tanner Arkin.
The Patriots officially welcome Van Roten to New England amid a wave of injuries at guard, with Andrew Rupcich on injured reserve and Ben Brown out for multiple weeks. Van Roten was most recently the New York Giants ' starting right guard from 2024-25 prior to signing with New England.
