FOXBOROUGH — It doesn't sound like Mike Vrabel is losing sleep over Drake Maye's shoulder injury.
The Patriots didn't practice on Wednesday, but the team listed the second-year quarterback as limited on their hypothetical injury report due to a shoulder ailment.
Vrabel wasn't fretting when asked what his level of concern was with Maye's injury on Thursday afternoon.
"Not much," Vrabel replied. "I try not to have a whole lot of concern. I just want to try to prepare the football team and make sure everybody is ready."
Maye landed hard on his throwing shoulder during the third quarter of last weekend's AFC Championship win over the Broncos and some have pointed to that as the genesis of the injury.
However, there are also reports that Maye had been managing a shoulder issue before the game in Denver . Vrabel dismissed the idea that Maye was playing through injury before the AFC Championship.
"No, because then he would have been listed on the injury report before then," the coach said.
As for Maye himself, the quarterback downplayed the injury's severity during his weekly WEEI Afternoons appearance.
"I'm feeling good. We've got some extra rest. I don't think it's from the game. I think it's just the buildup of throwing, including training camp, 30 weeks straight of throwing and four days a week. It can add up," Maye said Tuesday. "But I got some extra rest and I'm feeling good and ready to go for the Super Bowl."
