- Patriots Cornerback Miles Battle Signs with Dolphins After Super Bowl Loss
Mike Vrabel and the New England Patriots made an impressive run through the NFL playoffs , defeating the Los Angeles Chargers , Houston Texans and Denver Broncos in the AFC bracket. However, the Patriots fell short in Super Bowl LX, losing to Mike Macdonald and the Seattle Seahawks 29-13.
Still, Vrabel orchestrated a significant turnaround in his first season as New England 's head coach, improving the team's regular-season record from 4-13 in 2024 to 14-3. The defense, led by cornerback Christian Gonzalez , played a major role in that success, allowing just 295.2 total yards per game (8th in NFL ) and 18.8 points per game (4th). However, in 2026, the Patriots will be without one of their cornerbacks.

Miles Battle spent five seasons at Ole Miss before finishing his college career at Utah. The cornerback went undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft but later signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent. Battle was also selected in the fourth round of the 2024 UFL Draft by the San Antonio Brahmas, though he opted to pursue an NFL opportunity.
Battle did not make the Chiefs' regular-season roster in 2024, as he was waived during the preseason. However, he received another opportunity in October 2024, joining the Patriots' practice squad. Over two seasons with New England, Battle appeared in six games, recording five tackles and three passes defended.

But following the Patriots' Super Bowl loss to the Seahawks, Battle decided it was time for another change, signing a future/reserve contract with New England's AFC East rival Miami Dolphins .
"Roster Move | We have signed CB Miles Battle," the Dolphins wrote on X.
Vrabel and the Patriots will now look to the 2026 NFL season, hoping to get back to the Super Bowl, beginning with free agency, which opens on March 11.
