FOXBOROUGH – The Patriots are looking healthier coming out of their bye week.
On Monday, Mike Vrabel's team saw multiple impact players return to practice with Jared Wilson (ankle), Khyiris Tonga (chest), and Brenden Schooler (ankle) present for the first session of the week. The Patriots were missing Harold Landry and Terrell Jennings from practice.
With the Buffalo Bills coming to Gillette Stadium, this news is especially good for Drake Maye . After starting 11 games at left guard, Wilson suffered an ankle sprain three snaps into the Patriots ' win over the Cincinnati Bengals .
The rookie missed the team's win over the New York Giants , but after last week's bye, Wilson was back in action on Monday. The third-round pick started practice back at the Patriots' top left guard spot next to veteran center Garrett Bradbury . His replacement, Ben Brown , was back at the team's top backup center position.
With left tackle Will Campbell on the injured reserve, it would be beneficial for the Patriots to have Wilson back in the fold. When he suffered the injury, the offensive lineman was carted off the field and then left Cincinnati, donning a boot on his foot to go with a walking cane.
However, it appears that the injury wasn't as serious as it looked. Wilson avoided a stint on the injured reserve and, three weeks later, is back at practice.
During that game in Cincinnati, the Patriots also saw Schooler go down with an ankle injury. He, too, left Paycor Stadium in a walking boot. Tonga also suffered a chest injury in that matchup. But like Wilson, both players returned to action on Monday.
During the media portion of practice, Tonga appeared limited. The defensive tackle has started six of 12 games played this season. He has 19 tackles, two quarterback hits, and two pass breakups. With Milton Williams on the injured reserve, Tonga was slated to start next to Christian Barmore on the defensive line.
Patriots linebacker Robert Spillane also appeared to be limited in Monday's practice.
The Patriots will return to the practice field on Wednesday. The team will release its first injury report of the week that day.
