FOXBOROUGH — Mike Vrabel responded to former Patriots coach Bill Belichick’s Hall of Fame snub without wading too deeply into the controversy.
“I’m sure Bill will get in,” said Vrabel, who played for Belichick in New England and now has his old job.
Reports came out earlier this week that Belichick had not received the required 80 percent of votes to earn enshrinement in his first year of eligibility.
His exclusion has sparked several days of debate and speculation over whether Belichick’s prickly demeanor and connection to scandals led to him being left out. Others have assailed the Hall of Fame’s convoluted voting process.
“That’s something well out of my control. The time here with Bill were great, great years,” Vrabel said. “I’m sure Bill will get into Canton.”
Belichick, who has won the most Super Bowls and second-most games of any coach in history, is eligible to go through the process again next year.
The 2026 induction class will be announced next week at the Super Bowl.
