The New England Patriots placed wide receiver Jeremiah Webb on injured reserve Sunday, ending his 2026 season before he had an opportunity to compete for a roster spot during training camp . The move came after Webb reportedly suffered an arm injury during practice, although the team did not officially disclose the full details or recovery timeline.
Webb entered his second season with New England after signing with New England as an undrafted free agent in 2025. The former South Alabama standout did not appear in a regular-season game for the team last year but spent time on the active roster in January and also developed on the practice squad.
Webb made a positive impression during the 2025 preseason, recording six receptions for 80 yards and one touchdown while also contributing a 59-yard kickoff return. His performances helped him remain with the organization after final roster cuts, and he later returned on a futures contract in February.

Before joining the NFL, Webb produced several memorable moments in college. During the 2024 Salute to Veterans Bowl, he logged six catches for 182 yards and two touchdowns against Western Michigan, earning MVP honors. His receiving yardage set both a bowl record and a South Alabama bowl-game record, while his 200 all-purpose yards set another program mark. He finished the 2024 season with 36 receptions for 649 yards and five touchdowns, ending his college career with 51 catches, 955 yards and seven touchdowns across South Dakota and South Alabama.
The Patriots' decision to place Webb on injured reserve also created roster space for second-round linebacker Gabe Jacas after he signed his rookie contract . New England had previously added wide receiver Kobe Prentice off waivers, leaving the team with 11 active receivers following Webb's move.
The 25-year-old joined rookie Jimmy Kibble on injured reserve, giving the Patriots three players currently on IR along with tight end Julian Hill . The team entered training camp with a crowded receiver group featuring offseason additions AJ Brown and Romeo Doubs , along with Kayshon Boutte , Mack Hollins , DeMario Douglas , Kyle Williams and Efton Chism III .
