Drake Maye made his final pitch to win the MVP award with his performance against the Miami Dolphins to close out the season.
The Patriots quarterback went 14-of-18 for 191 yards and a touchdown in New England’s 38-10 win . Maye also added 41 yards on the ground.
Maye has put himself in the MVP conversation after a sophomore season that included NFL and Patriots records.
So, what would it mean to the 23-year-old to be named the MVP?
“I think it’d mean the world to us,” Maye told FOX Sports’ Pam Oliver after Sunday’s game . “It’s a team award. I’m just proud of the guys, proud to get a win. It takes everybody and just proud of this team. But it starts now. Playoffs start now, so we gotta go.”
Maye finished the 2025 season with 4,394 yards (fourth in the NFL), 31 touchdowns (third) and league-best 77.2 QBR. The MVP race is between him and Los Angeles Rams’ Matthew Stafford , who amassed 46 touchdowns on the season.
An argument can be made for either quarterback, but Maye did more with less this season.
Regardless, Maye’s focus is on the playoffs as the Patriots prepare to host the Los Angeles Chargers in the AFC Wild Card game at Gillette Stadium on Sunday night .
