- Patriots re-sign safety Elliott Davison to practice squad

After going through the NFL transaction wire unclaimed, Elliott Davison has circled back to the New England Patriots.
The organization officially re-signed the safety to the practice squad on Wednesday.
Davison, 24, was waived 48 hours prior on the heels of being a healthy scratch against the Miami Dolphins. The 6-foot, 190-pounder had been promoted to the 53-man roster in Foxborough midway through October following two standard elevations from the practice squad.
Now, he takes the opposite route as the active safety depth chart moves forward with Kevin Byard III, Craig Woodson, Jaylen Reed, Mike Brown and Brenden Schooler.
First joining the Patriots' practice squad in September before being released and re-signed, Davison's stay has included two tackles and one pass deflection through three games. The UTSA product stands with 10 snaps on defense and 57 snaps on special teams thus far in 2026.
Undrafted in 2025, Davison spent the duration of his rookie season on the practice squad of the New Orleans Saints and remained in the NFC South on a futures contract in January. He was let go at the league's cutdown deadline in August on his way to Gillette Stadium.
Head coach Mike Vrabel's 5-3 club stood with two open spots on the practice squad midway through the week. That was the case after losing linebacker K.J. Britt to the Detroit Lions, adding running back Terrell Jennings and linebacker Elias Neal, and also releasing wide receiver Cameron Dorner and offensive lineman Jake Kubas.
The Green Bay Packers visit on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 4:25 p.m. ET.
