Paul George is not holding back on what the Boston Celtics need from Mitchell Robinson. The veteran forward made his stance clear after Robinson struggled to find his rhythm in the early games. George told reporters that the team requires more from the center than he has shown so far this season.
The former Philadelphia 76ers star offered full support but set a high bar. He noted that Robinson is adjusting to a new system that demands different things from him. George believes the big man will figure it out, but the wait has limits.

A Different Role in Boston
Robinson played in seven of the Celtics' eight games but has not hit his expected stride. Per HITC , the 28-year-old managed double-digit points in only one game and scored under five points in four others. His rebounding and defensive stats have also dropped compared to his time with the New York Knicks.
George explained the shift in expectation directly to the media. He said, "We actually need him to do a little bit more and want him to do a little bit more [than the Knicks did]." The difference lies in how the Celtics use their frontcourt. In New York, Robinson had a specific role. Here, the team needs him to be more aggressive and explore his full potential.
George admitted that the change in playstyle is tough to handle. He told CLNS Media, "He's just going through that, a different playstyle for him. He'll get there." The veteran knows what it feels like to adjust to a new team. He joined Boston in the off-season and has been fantastic, which should push Robinson to match that energy.

Everyone Is Learning Together
George is not just talking about Robinson. He is also being honest about his own journey in Boston. He told Yahoo Sports , "I'm still trying to figure it out myself." This humility shows why he is such a valuable leader for the squad. He understands the pressure of fitting into a winning system.
The Celtics are 6-2 on the young season, and they need everyone to step up. George has already proven he can carry the load when Jayson Tatum rests. He scored 25 points in the win over the Bucks on Wednesday.
Robinson has the skills to be a force on the glass. The issue is consistency and adapting to the new game plan. George said, "So, just with that, I think he's starting to explore just what game and who he is here for us." The path forward is clear. Robinson must embrace the new demands if he wants to help Boston chase another title.
