The New Orleans Pelicans close out a three-game home stand on Saturday night against the Atlanta Hawks . The Pelicans are going to be seeking their second straight win, but are going to have to do it while at a slight injury disadvantage.
There isn't anything new, outside of Dejounte Murray being taken off after missing the last game for personal reasons. Though added context makes one of their injuries look a little bit worse than originally expected. Here is the full report ahead of the game:
Pelicans
Yves Missi - Out (left knee contusion/bone bruise)
Malik Dia - Questionable (G League two-way)
Jaron Pierre Jr. - Questionable (G League two-way)
Jordan Poole - Out (left ankle sprain)
Poole suffered his sprain after just seven minutes against the Denver Nuggets back on Wednesday night. He missed the game after, which was unsurprising, but was at least doubtful heading into the second game. Now, he was ruled out before ever being questionable for this matchup. They are still not even trying to get him ready before the game.
With swirling reports of a trade request and it making sense that the team would be willing to shop him, they might not want to rush him back. Still, though, he'll likely need to be out there to increase his value after a poor season last year and a hefty price tag.
Poole had been a positive presence on the court over the first few games. There's no clear timeline for his return at this point, though a sprain shouldn't keep him out that long.
Most eyes have been on Missi, though, who has been out since the second game of the season. There is also still no clear answer as to when Missi is coming back.
Hawks
Rayj Dennis - Doubtful (G League Two-Way)
Zuby Ejiofor - Doubtful (G League On Assignment)
Keshon Gilbert - Doubtful (G League Two-Way)
Mouhamed Gueye - Out (left foot fracture)
Jock Landale - Available (nasal fracture)
Henri Veesaar - Out (right ACL tear)
Jalen Wilson - Doubtful (G League Two-Way)
The Hawks' list is a fair bit longer, but their plans are less impacted that New Orleans, especially with Jock Landale being available. All starters are in tact. Veesaar, a rookie center, was lost for the year back in September. More disappointing than it is disrupting. Gueye is a solid depth big, but only played 15 minutes per night last season.
