Philadelphia Eagles have made a major roster change by waiving wide receiver Johnny Wilson with an injury designation ahead of their preseason game against the New England Patriots .
Wilson was picked by the Eagles in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. The 25-year-old appeared in 16 games during his rookie season, catching five of 15 targets for 38 yards and one touchdown.
However, he missed the entire 2025 season after suffering a torn ACL during training camp which also became one of the major reasons of his release.

Eagles make multiple roster changes
Alongside waiving Wilson, Philadelphia signed centre Zeke Correll and wide receiver Brandon Hayes while cornerback Tariq Castro-Fields was also placed on the Injured Reserve list.
The Eagles announced the moves on X (formerly Twitter):
"We signed C Zeke Correll and WR Brandon Hayes. We also placed Tariq Castro-Fields on the Injured Reserve List and waived/injured WR Johnny Wilson."
Wilson had made a promising start to last year's training camp and appeared to be in contention for the Eagles' fifth wide receiver spot before suffering the ACL injury.
His absence has since made his future with Philadelphia uncertain, particularly with Darius Cooper and Elijah Moore competing for roles in the receiving corps.
Wilson must now focus on his recovery and prove he can overcome his recent durability issues before looking to earn another opportunity.
