The Philadelphia Union have become a hotspot in the MLS for creating some of the brighter talents to leave the league and go elsewhere. Whether it was Jack McGlynn , who just recently signed for Stoke City in the Sky Bet Championship, Auston Trusty , who has found the back of the net in the group stage of the World Cup for the USMNT , or the Aaronson brothers, both of whom have featured in the Champions League.
It's clear that there's something in the water at Subaru Park.
The MLS side's most recent talent is Cavan Sullivan , who has taken the league by storm this year, being one of the key reasons that Philadelphia has turned their season around after the World Cup break, finding themselves firmly in the playoff picture. But it's only a matter of time before the 17-year-old switches from Subaru Park to the Etihad in Manchester, as he has a deal to join Manchester City when he turns 18.
Borussia Dortmund reportedly reached out to the Union
But Sullivan isn't the only player on the Union that has been getting some links to Europe, as according to Jose Roberto Nunez, Borussia Dortmund came calling for another player: Malik Jakupovic .
It's not known what the details of the deal were between the American and German sides, but given the pedigree that Dortmund has in polishing some of the biggest wonderkids in the world, it's no doubt that Jakupovic is on to something. Across 86 minutes this season, the 17-year-old has found the back on one occasion, with plenty of opportunities littered throughout to help further his game.
For now, Jakupovic and the Union will look to continue their climb up the Eastern Conference standings in favor of a higher seed for the playoffs to come in only two months' time.
