Kyle Schwarber hit Philadelphia Phillies history during the Saturday rout of the New York Mets . But he reached new franchise historic levels Sunday to close out the series.
Schwarber smacked his 216th home run as a Phillies member. He now has hit the third most homers in a player's first five seasons with a franchise, per ESPN Insights. But that's not all on the homer front.
Schwarber pounded four over the outfield fence total in a two-game span. It's now the second most for his career, nearly matching the five he delivered against the Washington Nationals back in 2021.
The left-handed batter added a third historic nugget too , per MLB analyst Sarah Langs.
" Kyle Schwarber has 29 home runs That's two more than any other player in Phillies history before the team's 80th game of a season," Langs posted on the social media website X, formerly Twitter. "It's only game 77, and Schwarber has only played in 74 of them."
So the league could be viewing the 2026 home run king by season's end. Schwarber is averaging 2.5 home runs a game this season. The Houston Astros ' Yordan Alvarez is the second-closest to him with 24 homers.
Schwarber pounded his latest one toward right center field, traveling at 418 feet. He drove two of his teammates home to hand Philadelphia the 5-0 lead in the bottom of the second. Schwarber ripped a 92 miles per hour fastball.
Philadelphia led 6-2 after six innings. Bryce Harper followed Schwarber by landing in the home run stat line, ripping his 390 feet during the bottom of the fifth that made it 6-1.
