Philadelphia Phillies star shortstop Trea Turner exited Thursday's game against the New York Mets after getting hit by a pitch. The injury was officially called a right calf contusion. Following the Phillies ' 6-4 loss to the Mets, interim manager Don Mattingly said the infielder could possibly return on Saturday , according to MLB.com. Turner will seemingly not have to miss too much time barring unforeseen circumstances.

Although Turner has struggled this season , losing him for an extended period of time due to injury would obviously be far from ideal. The 32-year-old has hit just .223 to go along with a .610 OPS so far during the 2026 campaign. However, has recorded seven home runs, 12 doubles and 15 stolen bases. The Phillies' lineup has been underwhelming overall, so Turner's presence is especially impactful.

Updates on Trea Turner 's injury status will continue to be monitored and provided as they are made available.

The Mets and Phillies do not have a game on Friday night. The ball clubs will be back in action on Saturday night in the second contest of their three-game series in Philadelphia.

Philadelphia is 40-35 overall so far in 2026. The team is in second place in the National League East standings, as they trail the Atlanta Braves by seven games. The Phillies will do everything they can to bounce back against the Mets — who remain in last place in the NL East — during the weekend.

First pitch for the ball game between the NL East rivals on Saturday night in Philadelphia is scheduled for 7:15 PM EST.
