The Philadelphia Phillies made a minor splash this past offseason, signing a former ALCS MVP to a one-year contract.
But the move didn't work out how either side wanted.
The two-time All-Star's season was cut short due to injury, just 67 games into the year.
Philadelphia's $10 million deal for right fielder/designated hitter Adolis Garcia now looks like a dud.
Bleacher Report's Zachary D. Rymer went as far as to say that Garcia has been the Phillies' worst player in 2026, even though the right-handed hitter hasn't played since June.
"Speaking of palace intrigue, the Phillies' one-year, $10 million deal with García was meant to help them forget about Nick Castellanos before he was even off the roster," Rymer wrote. "They planned to slot García into right field, a spot normally reserved for Castellanos."
Garcia provided a career-worst -0.9 bWAR with just seven home runs and a .599 OPS. His other offensive numbers weren't any better.
"Not that Castellanos did any better (he was actually worse) following his eventual release, but to call García a bust would be underselling it," Rymer added. "He got 259 plate appearances before season-ending surgery in June. He only managed a 60 OPS+ with an inflated 32.4 K%."

Clearly, Garcia's contract is one Phillies president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski would like a do-over on.
However, Garcia was a well-established power bat, and the Phillies were hoping to make any kind of upgrade over Castellanos.
Sometimes, things just don't work out.
