The Pittsburgh Steelers could land one of the best players in the 2026 NFL Draft.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have invested a ton of draft capital into their offensive line over the past few years, but Steve Jones, the voice of Penn State football, believes they would be very smart to do so once again in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Jones thinks Penn State offensive guard Olaivavega Ioane , who the Steelers just hosted for a pre-draft visit , is just as talented as Indianapolis Colts three-time first-team All-Pro and eight-time Pro Bowl guard Quentin Nelson.
“Here’s the stat that I think will tell you a lot about him, and the stat is 2023. What’s 2023? That’s the last time he gave up a sack in a game. Didn’t give up a single sack in 2024 or 2025.,” Jones said on Pittsburgh’s 93.7 The Fan . “This is the Quentin Nelson of this draft, but again, you have to remember, what was the knock on Quentin Nelson? The knock on Quentin Nelson is you don’t draft guards that high. He went sixth and he’s been worth everything to the Colts.”
Ioane, who stands at 6-foot-4, 320 pounds and played in 44 games for the Nittany Lions over the past four seasons, would be a slam-dunk selection for Pittsburgh if he ends up being even as remotely talented as Nelson.
Isaac Seumalo left a massive hole at left guard after he signed with the Arizona Cardinals in free agency and the Steelers have only added former undrafted free agent Brock Hoffman to compete with former seventh-round pick Spencer Anderson for the job.
However, the biggest question is if Ioane will even be available come pick No. 21 as he currently ranks as the No. 16 overall player on the NFL Mock Draft Database’s consensus big board .
That could mean it would take a trade-up for Pittsburgh to land Ioane, but the team certainly has enough draft capital to do so with 12 total selections.
The Steelers must determine how much more draft capital they are willing to invest in their offensive line, though.
