- Power Rankings Roundup: Where do the Eagles stand entering Week 9?
The Philadelphia Eagles have officially reached rock bottom in the eyes of much of the national media. A 2-6 record and six consecutive losses have changed the conversation surrounding a team that entered the season with championship expectations. Instead of debating how Philadelphia can get back on track, analysts are questioning whether the current roster and coaching staff can deliver a turnaround .
The latest power rankings reflect that growing pessimism. Every outlet moved the Eagles down after their 27-10 loss to the Washington Commanders , although the reasoning and tone varied. Some focused on the team's immediate problems, while others raised bigger questions about the franchise's direction and what could come next.

USA TODAY: Eagles fall to No. 30
USA TODAY dropped Philadelphia from No. 29 to No. 30, leaving the Eagles near the bottom of its rankings. The accompanying commentary offered little analysis, instead taking a sarcastic shot at the team's upcoming matchup against the New York Giants .
"You can bet a team on a six-game slide will look much better Sunday against the division-leading Giants … if only because Philly will be in its Kelly Green throwbacks."
The remark reflects how far expectations have fallen. Philadelphia once entered division games expecting to dictate the terms. Now, even a uniform change offers an opportunity for a little humor at the team's expense. The Eagles will have to offer something more convincing than a nostalgic look if they hope to change that perception.
FOX Sports: Eagles drop four spots to No. 27
FOX Sports made one of the week's largest moves, dropping Philadelphia from No. 23 to No. 27. The assessment was particularly harsh, describing the state of the franchise in blunt terms.
"They are just sad. That's really the only way to describe it. I know no one is sad for them, but that's still the state of their franchise. They have more key players injured than healthy. They are playing terrible defense and their offense is even worse. They are barely competitive anymore."
The commentary also questioned whether Nick Sirianni could survive the upcoming bye week if the Eagles lose at home to the Giants. FOX Sports added, "The mighty have fallen, and they have fallen far and hard."

ESPN: Eagles fall to No. 27 and revisit a championship-era acquisition
ESPN also moved Philadelphia from No. 23 to No. 27, but its entry took a different approach. Rather than focusing entirely on the current collapse, Tim McManus revisited the franchise's best in-season trade acquisition: running back Jay Ajayi in 2017.
"The Eagles acquired Ajayi from the Miami Dolphins in late October that season after Darren Sproles suffered a torn ACL. Ajayi joined a backfield that included LeGarrette Blount and Corey Clement, averaging 5.8 yards per carry in seven regular-season games. He then contributed 254 total yards during the postseason as Philadelphia captured its first Super Bowl championship."
The timing of that reflection is notable. Philadelphia is approaching the trade deadline at 2-6, and the organization faces questions about whether to pursue help, preserve future assets, or reconsider its current roster construction. A historical look at Ajayi reminds us that an in-season acquisition can change a team's fortunes, though the circumstances surrounding the 2017 championship run were considerably different from those facing the current Eagles.
CBS Sports: Is it time for Philadelphia to sell?
CBS Sports offered perhaps the bleakest assessment of the four, describing the Eagles' season as a disaster and raising the possibility of moving players before the trade deadline.
"This season is officially a disaster. They are done. When do they start selling off players?"
That is a significant shift in the conversation. Philadelphia is no longer simply being asked to fix its immediate problems. The possibility of selling players suggests some analysts believe the organization should begin considering its longer-term interests rather than trying to salvage anything current.

With the trade deadline approaching, that question will become increasingly difficult to avoid. The Eagles still have a chance to change the narrative, but another loss would make the argument for standing pat much harder to defend.
The four rankings tell a discouraging story. The Eagles are running out of time to change the conversation, which has now shifted from how to save the season to what needs to happen after it.
