Most NBA Mock Drafts have AJ Dybantsa going in the top two of this summer’s draft.
But the Brockton native, who is a freshman at BYU, says he’s not 100% certain he’s coming out.
On the “Deseret Voices” podcast , Dybantsa said he’s considering returning to college. There have been many players who declare themselves on the fence in February or March, but then declare after their college seasons are done. But for now, the 6-foot-9 small forward, who’ll be in the NCAA Tournament later this month, is keeping his options open.
“Well, I might not leave … like, I might not leave college,” Dybantsa said said in answer to a question about whether he thought he’s go No. 1 overall.
His father, Ace Dybantsa, told MassLive in November that his son was hyper-focused on basketball.
“Hard-working kid,” Ace Dybantsa said. “Loves the gym. That’s all he wants to do: play basketball. Watch film. Everything basketball. That’s all he wants to do. … The way I taught him, the way he was born. Just focus on the task at hand. That’s it. He’s thinking about nothing else but this game."
But his mother might have say.
“My mom wants me to graduate. So I might not leave, but I might leave,” Dybantsa said on the podcast.
