PSV Eindhoven missed the opportunity to close the gap on Eredivisie leaders Feyenoord after being held to a 1-1 draw at the Philips Stadion on Sunday afternoon.

Peter Bosz's side dominated much of the first half, but Giovanni van Bronckhorst's team responded after the interval to leave Eindhoven with a valuable point.

Guus Til gave PSV the lead in the 21st minute with a superb volley after Lutsharel Geertruida returned a cleared cross into the penalty area. However, Anis Hadj-Moussa levelled the contest after the break with an excellent finish into the far corner.

Both teams had opportunities to find a winner in the closing stages, but neither could make the breakthrough. The result leaves Feyenoord four points clear of PSV, making it a frustrating afternoon for the defending champions after their midweek Champions League victory over FC Porto.

Here are three things we learned from PSV's performance.

1. PSV's First-Half Dominance Deserved More Than A Single Goal

Bosz's side began the contest with the greater urgency, moving the ball purposefully and putting Feyenoord under pressure in the opening stages. PSV looked determined to build on their European success and take the initiative against their title rivals.

Guus Til had an early opportunity to shoot but opted to cross instead, allowing Feyenoord to clear. Ivan Perisic subsequently tested Tjark Ernst at his near post, although the goalkeeper was equal to the attempt.

PSV's pressure eventually produced the breakthrough in the 21st minute. After Feyenoord cleared a cross, Geertruida collected the loose ball and delivered it back into the area. Til reacted superbly, connecting with a first-time volley that flew into the top corner.

It was a fine finish from the forward, who has become an important source of goals for Bosz. His movement and awareness once again proved valuable in the attacking third.

PSV continued to threaten before the interval. Perisic fired narrowly wide following a mistake from Charles Vanhoutte, while Armando Obispo headed Sergiño Dest's cross against the outside of the post.

The hosts also had to rely on Matej Kovar to preserve their advantage, with the goalkeeper producing an excellent save to deny Nacho Ferri.

Ultimately, PSV's inability to turn their first-half superiority into a more substantial lead left the door open for Feyenoord to respond.

2. Hadj-Moussa Exposed PSV's Defensive Vulnerability After The Break

Feyenoord emerged with greater attacking intent in the second half, gradually shifting the momentum of the contest. PSV found it harder to control proceedings, and the visitors began to exploit spaces that had been less accessible before the interval.

The equaliser arrived through Hadj-Moussa, who cut inside from the right before producing a superb finish into the far corner. His strike from distance exposed a moment of uncertainty in PSV's defensive shape, with Mauro Júnior and Filip Kostic unable to prevent the winger from getting his shot away.

Hadj-Moussa remained a threat after scoring, forcing Kovar into another save as Feyenoord looked to capitalise on their improved performance.

The goal also highlighted a challenge for Bosz. PSV's aggressive approach and willingness to press can make them dangerous going forward, but it requires concentration and coordination when opponents find opportunities to attack the spaces left behind.

PSV still created chances after conceding. Ruben van Bommel fired over, while Til and Obispo threatened in the closing stages. Geertruida also thought he had restored the lead after finishing Perisic's clever backheel, only for the assistant referee to correctly flag for offside.

However, PSV could not find the decisive goal, and Feyenoord's second-half improvement ensured they left Eindhoven with a share of the points.

3. PSV's Lack Of Depth Remains A Concern In The Title Race

The draw also raised questions about PSV's ability to change the course of tight matches when their starting players cannot find a breakthrough.

Bosz introduced youngsters Mikkel Bro Hansen and Shuryjano Cornecion, alongside Dennis Man, as he attempted to inject fresh energy into the attack. Although PSV continued to create opportunities, the substitutions did not produce the second goal they needed.

Injuries have restricted the manager's options, limiting his ability to introduce established players who could change the game. PSV have previously benefited from having greater attacking quality available from the bench, but their current circumstances have placed more responsibility on the players already on the pitch.

That issue could become significant as the season progresses. PSV are competing on domestic and European fronts, and their ability to maintain intensity while managing injuries will be crucial.

The result was particularly disappointing given the momentum generated by the victory over Porto . A win would have brought PSV closer to Feyenoord, but the four-point gap remains unchanged.

Bosz's team showed their attacking quality in the first half, yet their failure to finish the job demonstrated that sustained dominance does not always translate into three points.

With Feyenoord maintaining their advantage at the top of the Eredivisie, PSV must find greater consistency and make better use of their opportunities if they are to mount a serious challenge for another title.
