The Rangers lost two players during Wednesday's loss to the Capitals, and we won't be seeing either anytime soon.
The team has placed Conor Shearyon long-term injured reserve with a lower-body injury, and Noah Labais being considered week-to-week with an upper-body issue.
It's unknown exactly how Sheary suffered his injury, but he was seen using crutches at Thursday's practice in Miami.
The veteran will have to miss at least the next 10 games, though it seems like he may be sidelined for much longer.
"We have a sense of the severity," head coach Mike Sullivansaid. "What I'll tell you is that he's longer term right now and we'll go from there -- I wouldn't expect to see him anytime soon."
Laba suffered his injury on a massive neutral zone hit from Washington's enforcer Tom Wilsonthat knocked him out of the game in the second period.
After staying on the ice in pain, he went back to the locker room and was ruled out for the day.
Losing Laba is a significant blow for the Rangers' lineup, as he has been easily one of the biggest bright spots for this team during his rookie campaign.
He'd built off his strong camp showing with five goals and seven assists in 42 games.
"It's a really tough loss for us," Sullivan said. "The element he brings to this group is a speed game and just a conscientious game on both sides of the puck -- he's not going to be an easy guy to replace."
New York made a flurry of moves to replace them in the lineup -- bringing up Justin Dowling, Brett Berard, and Anton Blidhfrom Hartford while sending Brennan Othmanndown.
