- Ravens coach Jesse Minter shares an emotional update on Danny Pinter
The injury itself was difficult enough. The timing made it even tougher. The verdict didn't make any Baltimore Ravens fans, players, or coaches happy. When Danny Pinter arrived this offseason , the veteran offensive lineman was touted as a versatile depth piece with an opportunity to compete for a larger role in the offense. By the middle of training camp, he had done far more than prove he could earn a roster spot.
He had worked his way into the conversation as a potential starter while helping stabilize an offensive line dealing with significant changes. Now, that opportunity must be earned by someone else.

After suffering an injury during a joint practice vs. the Minnesota Vikings , the prognosis- a torn patellar tendon- pretty much eliminated any chance of Pinter playing a major role in 2026. Following Monday's practice, Ravens head coach Jesse Minter was asked again about the veteran's status . This time, the comments added more finality. Baltimore's head coach couldn't have been any clearer.
"Yes, it is looking like a season-ending thing. My heart goes out to Danny Pinter ."
The response stood out because of how personal it sounded. Coaches often discuss injuries in clinical terms, focusing on timelines and roster implications. Minter's first reaction centered on the player. Jesse Minter is well aware of the opportunity that was missed. His statement carries significance that travels beyond the loss of a player on the depth chart.
As most know, after Tyler Linderbaum's exit , Baltimore entered training camp searching for answers at center. Pinter quickly emerged as one of the most important candidates in that competition, earning first-team work and putting himself in position to claim a starting role. Minter acknowledged the progress the veteran had made before the injury.
"Just the opportunity [with] him coming here knowing the situation we had, [and] kind of earning the opportunity to potentially be a starter."
That reality is what makes the situation particularly difficult. Pinter wasn't simply trying to make the roster. He had spent months building a legitimate case to become a key piece of Baltimore's offensive line. The injury abruptly changed those plans and created a new competition between Jovaughn Gwyn and Ethan Pocic for the starting center job.

Jesse Minter believes Danny Pinter will fight back
While Minter's comments reflected disappointment, they also revealed confidence in Pinter's ability to handle the setback. The Ravens coach pointed to the veteran's character and work ethic when discussing what comes next.
"But, I know he will work through this and come back from it. That is the type of guy that he is, but I definitely feel for a guy like that in that situation."
Sure, roster battles will continue. The center competition will move forward. The Ravens will find an answer at the position before Week 1 arrives. For Minter, though, Monday's update wasn't really about football.
It was about a player who arrived in Baltimore looking for an opportunity, earned it through months of work, and saw it disappear just as it seemed within reach. That reality made the coach's response feel less like an injury update and more like genuine empathy for a player whose biggest breakthrough was interrupted at the worst possible moment.
