- Ravens load up on contested-catch wide receivers in 2026 draft class
The Baltimore Ravens haven't just added two wide receivers in the 2026 NFL Draft — they added a specific type of pass catchers. By selecting Ja'Kobi Lane and Elijah Sarratt, Baltimore secured the two players in this draft class who posted the highest share of contested targets, according to Jonas Shaffer, highlighting a clear emphasis on physicality and ball skills. After watching DeAndre Hopkins make highlight reel catches during his one season in Baltimore, the Ravens double down on that type of elite playmaking ability.
Both Lane and Sarratt thrive in situations where the ball is in the air and defenders are in tight coverage, showing the ability to win through contact and finish plays. That trait is especially valuable in the NFL, where separation windows shrink, and quarterbacks often need receivers who can make plays in traffic.
Sarratt arrives as a productive and reliable possession target, coming off a strong 2025 season at Indiana , where he totaled 65 receptions for 830 yards and 15 touchdowns, showcasing his ability to finish plays and score for the National Champion Hoosiers. Lane finished his three-year USC career with 99 receptions for 1,363 yards and 18 touchdowns. In 11 games last season, Lane had 49 receptions for 745 yards and four scores.

For Baltimore, the move reflects a broader offensive vision built around versatility and matchup advantages. Adding two receivers who excel in contested situations gives the offense more flexibility, whether it's in the red zone, on third down, or in critical moments. It's a clear indication that the Ravens are prioritizing reliability and toughness at the catch point as they continue to evolve their passing attack.
