The Cleveland Browns have had never-ending struggles at quarterback, but more often than not, they've had a solid offensive line to hang their hat on. Led by Hall of Famers like Joel Bitonio and Joe Thomas, they've dominated in the trenches in the physical AFC North.
That's why they couldn't afford to take their time rebuilding their aging and injury-depleted offensive line after such a disappointing campaign in 2025. General manager Andrew Berry got to work, and he revamped that unit overnight in just one offseason.
In the meantime, the Baltimore Ravens moved in the opposite direction, losing center Tyler Linderbaum and now also Hakeem Adeniji . That's why they were forced to sign former Browns offensive tackle Kendall Lamm in what felt like vindication for Cleveland's front office.
Midway through the 2025 season, it became painfully obvious that the Browns needed to overhaul their offensive line. Their early-season trade for journeyman left tackle Cam Robinson , along with constant shuffling at just about every position outside of Bitonio at left guard, left the group struggling to find any consistency from Week 1 on.
The Browns still have questions up front this summer, but what they do have is more options. In fact, some of Cleveland's reserve offensive linemen, like Luke Wypler , Zak Zinter , and Kingsley Eguakun , may not clear waivers if they don't make the initial 53-man roster.
The fact that a contending team like the Ravens had to dig deep to find another body for its offensive line is a testament to how the Browns allocated their resources this offseason. They attacked this issue early in free agency and doubled down in the draft, and what seemed to be their weakest unit is now gaining the benefit of some fierce position battles in training camp.
Of course, the Ravens will still roll with a solid duo of tackles in Ronnie Stanley and Roger Rosengarten , so it's not like this is a crisis situation in Baltimore. But every NFL player is one snap away from missing the season, and the Browns have the luxury of some quality depth pieces like Dawand Jones , KT Leveston , Austin Barber, and Parker Brailsford to cover their bases in 2026.
The Browns know a thing or two about having an injury change their plans and hurt their pass-protection. But they should now have someone more than capable of stepping up and holding down the fort, with a new-look, uber-athletic offensive line full of players who can play multiple positions.
