Questions about Forsberg's future began to pop up over the summer after he quietly retired from international soccer this year.
During a conversation with The Post in August, Red Bulls head of sport Julian de Guzman said that there hadn't been "full-on initial discussions" about Forsberg's future with the club.
In a separate interview, Forsberg told The Post this summer that he didn't have "any other thoughts about what's going to happen."
"I mean, that's up to my agent and everybody involved in Red Bull," he said. "I think they're gonna come to a conclusion about what's best for me. I'm not worried. I'm just focusing on my football right now and trying to help this club and this team to get better every day. That's my goal."

Forsberg has served as the club's captain since his arrival in Harrison, N.J., and has 27 goals and 18 assists across all competitions in his time with Red Bull New York.

The Red Bulls are now in a battle to stay in playoff position with just a pair of games left on the schedule after Wednesday night's 3-2 loss to the New England Revolution.
