The Boston Red Sox fired Alex Cora on Saturday after the team’s 17-1 win over the Baltimore Orioles . It was a move made, as Boston has seemingly struggled early this season, as the club owns a 10-17 record. Shortly after firing Cora, along with several other coaches, the franchise announced the interim manager for the remainder of the campaign.
Reports indicate that Chad Tracy is stepping in as the interim manager , according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today Sports. The announcement also revealed two other interim coaches to help fill out the Red Sox staff.
“Chad Tracy will be the Red Sox interim manager,” reported Nightengale. “Chad Epperson will serve as the club’s Interim Third Base Coach. Collin Hetzler will serve as part of the club’s Major League hitting staff.”
Tracy, who is 45 years old, was previously the manager for Triple-A Worcester. He was originally hired to manage the Red Sox’s minor league affiliate in 2022 and will now have a chance to manage a major league team for the first time in his coaching career.
Boston’s new interim manager will make his debut on Sunday when the Red Sox take on the Orioles at 1:35 p.m. EST. The team will attempt to earn a victory in the third contest of the three-game series, giving them a 2-1 record over Baltimore in the series.
The Red Sox moved on from Alex Cora , as the team was seemingly struggling to begin this season. Although he helped lead the club to a World Series win in 2018, Boston has only reached the playoffs twice since then. The franchise hopes that cleaning house in the coaching staff can bring better success for the future
