"Somebody just told me to kill myself," Duran said. "I'm used to it at this point, you know? I mean, s**t happens. I mean, I'm going to flip somebody off if they say something to me, but it is what it is. I shouldn't react like that, but that kind of stuff is still kind of triggering."
Duran has been open about his struggles with his mental health in the past. Comments like the one Duran said the fan made are "triggering" for Duran given what he has dealt with in the past.
Duran was mentioned in trade rumors this past offseason. The Red Sox ultimately decided to hold onto the 2024 All-Star. So far in 2026, Duran is hitting .182/.274/.291 across 62 plate appearances. During his All-Star 2024 campaign, Duran hit .285/.342/.492 in 160 games played.
The Red Sox fell to 6-11 overall as a result of the loss on Tuesday to the Twins. Boston is in last place in the American League East standings. The ball club is hoping to bounce back soon, as they had high expectations heading into this season.
