The Boston Red Sox will begin their series against the Baltimore Orioles , and they’ll still be without one of their key players. Roman Anthony has missed the past few games after suffering a back injury against the New York Yankees , and there is uncertainty about when he’ll return.
The good news is that Anthony doesn’t think the injury is serious , and he recently offered an update on how he’s working to get back on the field.
“We’ve been taking care of it in the training room and doing everything I can do to get back out there,” Anthony said via MLB.com. “It’s a weird thing that happened on a swing. I’m not too worried about it. I think I got a little bit of perspective from last year when I hurt my oblique and kinda knew then and there. Right now I’m in a good spot, and I think I’ll be ready to play in the next couple of days.”
Anthony remembers when he felt something strange in his back and thought that it was something he could shake off quickly. He finished the game as well, but things didn’t get better the following day.
“When things started to settle down, it didn’t feel the way I wanted it to feel. Thought it was more of a spasm, but it didn’t feel great the next day,” Anthony said.
Anthony has a history of injuries, more specifically, to his back. He also had an oblique injury that he notes was more serious than what he’s dealing with now.
“This was more upper back. Last time it was more lower back,” Anthony said. “First time I really felt something like this. I think it’s good to know where I was last year with the oblique and how severe that was, and I don’t feel that way about this at all.”
