It was an odd day in the NFL. In one instance, an NFL referee apparently used choice words toward Cardinals tight end Trey McBride . In another, Eric Wilson of the Vikings knocked a ref down , but it wasn't his fault. The NFL responded swiftly to the situations on Monday, suspending both referees involved in the incidents, according to a post on X by Jonathan Jones.
"NEWS: Line judge Jeff Seeman has been suspended for two games, and referee Adrian Hill has been suspended for one game, each for an instance of unprofessional conduct @TheAthletic"
It's not common to see referees react in this manner in the NFL. And perhaps that's why the NFL moved so quickly.

The NFL doesn't want its refs to act this way
Seeman was caught on camera cursing at McBride, according to APNews.com. And it drew a response from the NFLPA's executive director.
"This kind of behavior from an official towards a player is unacceptable," Tretter, the NFL Players Association's executive director, said on social media along with a video clip of the incident. "Players are consistently held accountable when the roles are reversed. We expect the NFL to hold officials to the same standard."
The interaction came after officials did not call a pass interference or illegal contact penalty on New York's Dru Phillips. The Giants player made contact with McBride before the ball arrived from Jacoby Brissett on a third-and-2 play.
As for Hill, he got suspended because of his response to getting knocked down by Wilson. Dolphins running back Ollie Gordon was blocking Wilson and pushed him into Hill, who got in Wilson's face and yelled at him, according to NBC Sports.

"That was funny, honestly," Wilson said. "I ended up apologizing to him and explained the situation. He was cool about it. (And) he understood what was going on. He just said he didn't want us fighting, me and [Gordon]."
