- Remembering Freddie Freeman’s Iconic Walk-Off Grand Slam

Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman made World Series history on this day in 2024, hitting the first walk-off grand slam in World Series history.
The Dodgers made it back to the World Series for the first time since 2020 in 2024, setting up a blockbuster against the New York Yankees, who made it out of the American League. The Dodgers hosted the first game at home, but found themselves trailing the visitors by a run in the bottom of the 10th inning.
LA put together a rally in the 10th inning, though, loading the bases with two outs to bring Freeman to the plate.
On the first pitch he saw, Freeman took a 92-mph fastball deep to right field, bringing home four runs and sending Dodger fans home happy.
Freeman's homer set the tone for the series and earned the Dodgers an all-important Game 1 win. He carried that momentum through the rest of the series, hitting four homers and driving in 12 runs over the course of the five-game series.
They'd go on to win the World Series in five games, making quick work of the Yankees and winning the title on their opponents' field as Freeman won MVP.

Freeman's homer stands as one of the most important home runs in recent Dodgers history, and fans remember it exactly as such.
"I am a hurt and broken man today for reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with sports, yet whenever I watch this, it reminds me that joy can still exist in this cruel and unforgiving world," Instagram user @silentandroid (Elson Trinidad) wrote.
Other fans held the same sentiment.
"was watching at home with my dad and we cried together…best moment ever," Instagram user @kyxo27_ wrote .
Freeman's legacy in Los Angeles will stand long past the second anniversary of his grand slam, and he's sure to make more memories with the Dodgers throughout the remainder of his tenure with the team.
