Everton Transfer News: Orri Oskarsson Emerges as January Striker Target
Everton are doing active work on striker recruitment ahead of January, and Orri Oskarsson is among the names under serious consideration. According to TeamTalk, the Real Sociedad forward is being closely monitored by the Merseyside club as David Moyes looks to address a glaring need in his squad.

The position is clear. Everton require greater depth and quality in the centre-forward department after a difficult summer left Thierno Barry as the club's only recognised striker. As reported, Moyes "has been left with only one recognised striker, Thierno Barry, after a calamitous summer window: Everton sold Beto to Fiorentina but failed to bring in a replacement." That context matters, and it explains why work is already underway on possible winter additions.
Orri Oskarsson on Everton shortlist
Oskarsson, 22, has built a strong reputation since joining Real Sociedad in 2024 from FC Copenhagen. The Iceland international is now firmly on Premier League radar, with Everton said to be giving him particularly close attention. TeamTalk states that "Everton are among a number of Premier League clubs monitoring Real Sociedad striker Orri Oskarsson ahead of a potential January move".
That interest is understandable. Last season was described as "a significant breakthrough for Oskarsson", with the striker scoring nine LaLiga goals and helping Sociedad win the Copa del Rey. He has carried that momentum into the current campaign, registering three goals in eight LaLiga appearances, while his output for Iceland has added further weight to his profile.

The report adds that "Oskarsson has scored five goals in six international appearances this year", a return that reinforces why clubs are watching so closely. He is also noted for his frame and all-round game, with "physical presence, composure in front of goal and ability to lead the line" making him an increasingly attractive option.
Premier League interest growing
Everton's admiration is far from exclusive. TeamTalk reports that "Tottenham, Newcastle, Sunderland and Brentford have all checked on the Icelandic frontman this season". That creates a competitive landscape if interest develops into a formal move.
Still, Everton's need may be more immediate than that of rival clubs. The recruitment team are assessing the market and Oskarsson "is one of the forwards attracting their attention". At 6ft1in, with growing experience in Spain and on the international stage, he fits the profile of a striker capable of offering both instant support and longer-term value.

January window could be decisive
For Everton, much will depend on price, availability and whether Real Sociedad are willing to entertain offers in mid-season. There is no suggestion yet of advanced talks, but the level of scouting attention is notable. This feels like a situation to track over the coming months as Moyes and Everton sharpen their plans for January.
With the attack needing reinforcement, Oskarsson is a name worth watching closely.
Our View
This is exactly the type of report that gives some encouragement. Everton need another striker, and they need one with upside, presence and the mentality to handle pressure. Oskarsson sounds like a smart fit. The line about his "physical presence, composure in front of goal and ability to lead the line" stands out because those are qualities this squad badly needs.

There is also something reassuring about Everton moving early in their thinking. Waiting until the final days of a window has hurt this club too often. If the recruitment team truly are paying "particularly close attention" then the groundwork should already be happening, because competition from Tottenham, Newcastle, Sunderland and Brentford could make this difficult very quickly.
What appeals most is the balance in his profile. He is producing in LaLiga, he is delivering for Iceland, and at 22 there is still room for development. Everton should be targeting players who can improve the team now but also grow in value over time. That is how smart squads are built.
There is still plenty to prove, of course, and moving from Spain to the Premier League is a serious jump. But Everton cannot afford to drift through another window with obvious needs left unresolved. If Oskarsson is attainable, this looks like the sort of move the club should push hard to make.
