Report: Everton have joined the race to sign Premier League midfielder

Everton Focus Turns to Premier League Experience
Everton's search for proven Premier League quality appears to have taken another significant step, with Sports Boom reporting that Fulham midfielder Sander Berge has emerged as a genuine target ahead of the new campaign.

The Norway international is also attracting interest from newly promoted Hull City, but Everton's ambition to strengthen the heart of midfield makes this a particularly intriguing development. With changes continuing behind the scenes and renewed optimism surrounding the club, adding an experienced performer such as Berge would fit a sensible recruitment strategy.

According to Sports Boom, tentative discussions are already underway as interest in the 28 year old continues to build.
Proven Quality Could Suit Everton
Berge has quietly established himself as one of the Premier League's most dependable holding midfielders.

Following spells with Sheffield United and Burnley , he has spent two productive seasons at Fulham, where his calm distribution, intelligent positioning and physical presence have earned widespread respect.
His situation has changed following Marco Silva's departure to Benfica. Although Berge still has three years remaining on his Fulham contract, Sports Boom reports that he is considering his future and could be ready for a fresh challenge.

That possibility has naturally attracted interest.
Manchester United have also been linked with Berge, although reports suggest their immediate focus has shifted towards Mateus Fernandes , while Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott also features among their midfield options.

That could leave Everton well placed if they choose to accelerate their interest.
Experience Remains Valuable
Recruitment often focuses on potential, but experience continues to carry enormous value in the Premier League.
Berge brings exactly that balance.
The midfielder has earned 67 senior caps for Norway after progressing through every youth age group. His understanding of English football is equally important, eliminating much of the adaptation period that can accompany overseas arrivals.
Everton have frequently benefited from signing players who already understand the demands of the division, and Berge appears to fit that profile naturally.

His ability to shield the defence while keeping possession moving would provide another dimension to Everton's midfield.
Summer Window Worth Watching
No agreement has yet been reached and Fulham remain in a strong contractual position.
However, Sports Boom's report suggests the player is open to exploring a new opportunity, while Everton continue to assess ways of strengthening their squad before the season begins.
Should Manchester United prioritise alternative targets, Everton may discover the pathway becomes considerably clearer.

Transfers are often shaped by timing as much as desire. Berge's experience, leadership qualities and Premier League pedigree make him a logical option for Everton as they seek greater consistency in midfield.

If the opportunity develops over the coming weeks, this could become one of the more interesting domestic transfer stories of the summer.
Our View , EPL Index Analysis
For Everton, this feels like a transfer worth pursuing. Sander Berge has shown across several Premier League clubs that he can perform consistently, even in difficult circumstances. That reliability is something Everton have often needed in midfield.
Supporters are unlikely to be distracted by fashionable names when proven quality is available. Berge knows the pace and physical demands of English football, understands how to protect a defence and has the composure to help Everton control matches more effectively.

His international experience with Norway also adds another layer of maturity. Bringing in players who have handled pressure at both club and international level can only strengthen the dressing room.
There will naturally be competition for his signature, and Fulham are under no pressure to sell while he remains under contract. Even so, if Everton can present a convincing sporting project and regular football, there is every reason to believe the move could appeal to the player.
Everton supporters have waited to see signs of smart recruitment built around experience, quality and value. Berge appears to satisfy all three criteria, making this one rumour that deserves close attention as the transfer window develops.
