Stanford football has undergone significant turnover this offseason, from a new coaching staff to departures headed to the NFL. The reshuffled roster has created openings for younger players to establish themselves in 2026—and some are already getting national attention.
Over the weekend, freshman four-star wide receiver Zion Robinson was picked as one of the top ten freshmen in the ACC who could have a big impact on the college football season by ESPN .

Robinson had originally committed to Michigan , but the Cardinal were able to flip him to The Farm back in January, not long after Tavita Pritchard was named head coach.
Robinson will likely factor into Stanford 's passing attack sooner rather than later, given the departures of CJ Williams and Sam Roush .
A top wide receiver recruit, Robinson is in a position group at Stanford that has a lot of potential standouts, but fewer established players.
The 6-foot-2 wideout caught 47 passes for 823 yards and 11 touchdowns in high school last season. He is one of the taller receiver options that Stanford will have going into the 2026 campaign.

Caden High (5-foot-10), David Pantelis (5-foot-11), Nico Brown (6-foot-0), and JonAnthony Hall (6-foot-1) all appear to be primed for roles in this program, and Robinson is the tallest of the bunch. That could end up leading to some jump-ball opportunities down the field and in the end zone.
Hall missed most of the 2025 season, while Pantelis, a transfer from Yale (like Brown, who arrived this season), missed the entire year. With both of those players back in 2026, Stanford has some depth at the position heading into the campaign.
Stanford's leading pass-catchers last season were CJ Williams (749 yards, now Jacksonville), Sam Roush at tight end (545 yards, drafted by Chicago), and sixth-year Bryce Farrell (455 yards).
High ranked fourth on that list with 414 yards, while running back Micah Ford (119) and backup tight end Benji Blackburn (109) were the only other players who cracked 100 receiving yards.

Pritchard's View of the WR Room
Pritchard was asked about the wide receiver room during Monday's training camp and likened the room to a basketball team.
"You want guys of different skill sets and shapes and sizes," Pritchard said. "Because you've got to find a lot of different ways to put pressure on and attack the defense."
The Cardinal coach also mentioned that speed is one element of the wide receiver toolbox because it allows the offense to put pressure on the opposing defense both vertically and horizontally.
"We got to make sure that [the coaches] are using it correctly, so that those guys bring the system to life," Pritchard said.

Part of the challenge will be finding the right combination of receivers to get the most out of the group in certain situations. So far in training camp, the abundance of talent has created competition.
Since there aren't many established roles or players, everyone has a shot to impress, which will lead to the best options making themselves known — and some tough decisions for Pritchard and company over the next three weeks.
