The Houston Rockets made the most of the occasion against the Oklahoma City Thunder as they had moved to 110-86 midway through the fourth quarter in what may as well turn into a blowout win. With the Thunder missing several starters with Chet Holmgren recently joining the likes of Cason Wallace and Jalen Williams on the injury list, Jabari Smith Jr. led Houston with 30 points, nine rebounds and five assists.

However, it was Tari Eason who may have produced the highlight of the game, and it came in the third quarter with less than three minutes remaining on the clock. Eason received the ball at the edge of the three-point zone and then drove in, launching a humongous dunk over the Thunder's Adam Mara before pointing to the crowd in celebration, per a post on X by ClutchPoints.
Eason came off the bench to score eight points and also had three rebounds and two assists with less than three minutes remaining in the game. Regardless, Smith Jr. was ably supported by Marcus Smart, who had 24 points, five rebounds and two assists off an impressive 7-10 shooting, going 3-3 from the three-point zone.
Kevin Durant had a reasonably quiet game and had just 14 points, four assists and three rebounds till late in the game, going 4-9 from the field. Alperen Sengun was creeping towards a triple-double and had 16 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds in 33 minutes, but he also had a poor shooting night, converting just 6 of his 17 shots.

The Thunder were predictably led by reigning MVP Shai-Gilgeous Alexander, who had 26 points and four rebounds off 10-21 shooting. However, OKC struggled to find regular offence in the wake of so many missing players, and were edging closer to their second loss of the season.

A win means that Houston will improve to 6-1 for the season, at least temporarily lifting them to the top of the Western Conference.
