Following his postgame press conference, where he acknowledged WWE's "Tribal Chief" Roman Reigns after the team's 51-point Game 6 blowout win over the Atlanta Hawks , he has paid it back to New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson .
During the postgame press conference, a reporter asked Brunson about Reigns winning the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 42 a couple of weeks ago. This made Brunson's day, who said that "these are the questions I want asked."
He then elaborated that he has a handshake with one of the Knicks' trainers. Brunson said they "acknowledge" Reigns "before every game."
Reigns quote-posted a clip of the press conference on X, formerly Twitter, and posted an index finger pointing up emoji, representing that he's acknowledging Brunson.
Ultimately, Brunson is "very excited" for Reigns' latest world championship reign. Reigns is set to have his first title defense on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Backlash against Jacob Fatu.

On Thursday, Apr. 30, 2026, the Knicks punched their ticket to the second round of the playoffs by beating the Hawks in convincing fashion.
The Knicks won the game by 51 points. They were led by OG Anunoby , who scored 29 points in 27 minutes and also had seven rebounds.
It was a relatively quiet game for Brunson, who scored 39 points in the last outing. He scored 17 points while making half of his shots and had eight assists.
Regardless, the Knicks won the last three games of the series after going down 2-1 to the Hawks. They won each of the last three games by more than 10 points.
Now, they wait for the result of Game 7 between the Philadelphia 76ers and Boston Celtics , which will take place on Saturday, May 2. If the Celtics win, they will host the first two games of their series against the Knicks. If the Sixers pull it off, the Knicks will host the first two games of the series at Madison Square Garden.
