KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Royals will be without their second baseman for the remainder of the season.
Jonathan India underwent labral surgery and will miss the rest of the season, the team announced on Tuesday.
He was placed on the injured list on April 18, with left shoulder subluxation, an injury he also dealt with last season.

It's an excruciating blow for India, who re-signed with the club this offseason on a one-year, $8 million deal. He will be a free agent at the end of next season.
He's currently in his second season with the Royals, joining them after being traded from the Cincinnati Reds along with Joey Wiemer in exchange for RHP Brady singer ahead of the 2025 season.
While he was acquired to provide a boost to an inconsistent Royals offense, he has struggled during his tenure with the club.
This season, India finished with a slash line of .167/.310/.313 to go along with two home runs and eight RBIs in just 17 games.
