Rutgers football received an encouraging update on running back Antwan Raymond ahead of Saturday's road matchup against No. 24 Northwestern, although his availability remains dependent on pregame warm-ups.
The Scarlet Knights enter the Big Ten contest following a 37-30 victory at Maryland, with another road test awaiting them at Ryan Field in Evanston, Illinois.
Raymond has rushed for 498 yards and five touchdowns on 105 carries this season. His availability remains a question as Rutgers visits 5-1 Northwestern amid a difficult season. The Scarlet Knights are 2-4 overall, 1-2 in Big Ten play and 1-3 at home.

ESPN's Pete Thamel shared an update Saturday on X, formerly Twitter, indicating that Raymond remains a game-time decision but is trending toward playing.
The following story is in development and will be updated shortly.
Raymond has accumulated 2,196 career rushing yards and 26 rushing touchdowns, with the latter total tied for eighth in Rutgers history. He has recorded eight games with at least 100 rushing yards.
He scored on the ground against Maryland, while fellow running back Clay Thevenin rushed for 109 yards and caught a touchdown pass from quarterback Dylan Lonergan.
Thevenin has scored a rushing touchdown in four consecutive games.
Lonergan threw for a season-high 291 yards and three touchdowns against the Terrapins. Rutgers overcame a 10-point halftime deficit by scoring 24 consecutive points.
The Scarlet Knights converted nine of 14 third-down attempts and scored on all six red-zone possessions in that victory.
Northwestern enters with a 2-1 conference record. Rutgers leads the all-time series 4-2 and won the teams' most recent meeting 24-7 in 2023.
Saturday's matchup kicks off at noon ET/9 a.m. PT on Peacock.
