A former wide receiver of the Pittsburgh Steelers could soon have a new NFL home.
The New Orleans Saints tried out former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool on Tuesday, according to multiple reports . The Saints are looking for extra help as first-round pick Jordyn Tyson continues to recover from a hamstring injury.
Claypool, 28, was selected by the Steelers in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He had drawn comparisons to Detroit Lions legend Calvin Johnson while recording 1,733 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns over his first two seasons.
However, he was eventually traded to the Chicago Bears for a second-round pick, which would later be used to select cornerback Joey Porter Jr.
Since then, he's recorded just 22 catches for 217 yards and no scores, also spending time with the Miami Dolphins (2023) and Buffalo Bills (2024).

Claypool tore a ligament and tendon in his toe during his time in Buffalo and hasn't found another opportunity since. But he seems to be as determined as ever to make a comeback.
In March, Claypool uploaded an edit on Instagram to the tune of Rihanna's "Where Have You Been."
"Back soon," Claypool captioned the video, which showed him catching passes during his time with the Steelers.
Claypool hadn't posted to his Instagram page since last July, a slideshow that included a video of him wheeling around on one leg and getting an X-ray on his left foot and a clip of him reeling in a pass from Josh Allen in practice and his team mugshot with the Bills.
Only time will tell if Claypool will be able to complete his comeback, but the Saints' interest is certainly a place to start for the once highly-regarded wide receiver.
