Sam Darnold went into the NFC Championship Game against the Los Angeles Rams with an oblique injury that limited him in practice.
But the quarterback was able to help the Seahawks to Super Bowl 60 with a three-touchdown performance in Seattle ’s 31-27 win over Los Angeles .
Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald said on Seattle Sports’ “ Brock & Salk ” that while Darnold will be sore after he played through an injury, it’s “ nothing major. ”
The Seahawks now prepare for their Super Bowl matchup against the New England Patriots on Feb. 8. Darnold has experience playing the Patriots having spent three seasons with the New York Jets .
Darnold is 0-4 against New England . Notably, one of those losses came in 2019 when the Patriots defense had the quarterback “ seeing ghosts ” after he had two interceptions and a lost fumble in the first half.
The 28-year-old has revived his career since then. Darnold is coming off consecutive 14-3 seasons as he prepares for his first Super Bowl appearance.
Super Bowl 60 will be a rematch of Super Bowl 49 when the Patriots emerged victorious thanks to a Malcolm Butler interception at the goal line with time winding down.
