The Seattle Seahawks saw their biggest competitor in the NFC, the Los Angeles Rams , make a huge swing earlier this week when they acquired Myles Garrett from the Cleveland Browns . The move gives the Rams arguably the best overall player in the NFL and puts an immediate dent in the Seahawks' plans to repeat as Super Bowl champions.
On Tuesday, the Seahawks responded with a free agency signing of their own , albeit of someone who had already been on the roster.
"The #Seahawks and EDGE Derick Hall have agreed to a 3-year, $42M extension with upside to $46.5M, per source. A former 2nd-round pick, Hall gets up to $19M through the first year of the extension in a deal done by Chad Berger and Ezra Thompson," reported Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team on X, formerly Twitter.
Hall was one of the several key players on the Seahawks' defensive line last year, which constantly found ways to put immense pressure on opposing offenses, including in their Super Bowl win over the New England Patriots .
Now, Hall will stay with the Seahawks long term as they look to defend their Super Bowl title and form into something resembling a dynasty.
However, that will be quite the challenge this year with the Rams lurking in the division. Many already believed the Rams had surpassed the Seahawks in terms of overall talent this offseason when they traded for cornerback Trent McDuffie , and now that they've added Garrett, they're looking like one of the most stacked teams in NFL history.
Still, the game is played on the field and not on paper.
