After a whirlwind few days for the Boston Red Sox , MassLive Fenway Insider Sean McAdam and Red Sox reporter Chris Cotillo returned to their microphones to look at the fallout from the team firing Alex Cora and the bulk of his coaching staff on the latest Fenway Rundown .
As the pair continued to digest the stunning news, McAdam, who has over three decades of experience covering the team, remained surprised by the upheaval.
“You know, Chris, the longer this goes and the longer we have to digest and put it into context, I’m starting to feel that the coaches dismissals in some ways almost outstripped in impact and surprise and everything else with the Alex Cora firing,” McAdam said.
“Obviously when you fire a guy who has won a World Series for you, who has been in the dugout for eight seasons, who was third on the all-time list of most wins by a Red Sox manager and who once was very popular — I think that star has dimmed over the last couple of years because the team did not perform — the coaching thing, it just kind of grows over time because we’re all still digesting this."
McAdam and Cotillo take a closer look at the young and inexperienced coaches the Red Sox added to interim manager Chad Tracy’s staff, the reaction of the players, the experience Tracy went through making his big league debut and Cora’s behavior on social media .
