As previously discussed on Gridiron Heroics, the Seattle Seahawks' safety depth has recently taken a massive hit, leaving Julian Love as the only healthy player at the position. Bud Clark suffered a season-ending broken right ankle in the second preseason game. Ty Okada popped up on this week's injury report with a hamstring injury and was ruled out on Tuesday. Nick Emmanwori , who has been battling an ankle injury since July, was a limited participant and is questionable.
Because the Seahawks currently have the healthy safety on the 53-man roster, they were expected to promote at least one to the game-day roster.

According to Jane Slater of NFL Network, the Seahawks have promoted AJ Finley to the active roster, not D'Anthony Bell . Finley has been with Seattle since November 2024, before suffering a season-ending ACL tear in August 2025 and being released during roster cuts in August. In a corresponding move, the front office waived Bryce Cabeldue, who will be subject to the waiver wire before he is free to sign with any team.
The Seahawks also elevated a safety

The Seahawks also elevated Rodney Thomas II to the game-day roster. Thomas spent his first four seasons with the Indianapolis Colts , starting 26 of 68 games and recording six interceptions and ten pass deflections. He signed with Seattle in March but was released during roster cuts and later joined the practice squad. The former seventh-round pick can be elevated to the game-day roster two more times this season without penalty.
