Lazio falls 2-0 away to Torino in Roberto D'Aversa's debut match on the Granata bench. In a surreal atmosphere, amid protests against Cairo and an almost empty stadium, Torino plays with greater intensity and determination, while Maurizio Sarri's team appears flat and lacking rhythm.
The match is unlocked in the first half by Giovanni Simeone , who does well to capitalize on a rebound and surprise Pellegrini and Provedel . In the second half, Torino grows and finds the 2-0 in the 53rd minute: a perfect cross from Obrador and a winning header from Duván Zapata .
Lazio tries to react only at the end, with Paleari alert on Romagnoli , while Torino defends in an organized manner – Ebosse's clearance also proving decisive – and brings home a crucial victory that puts them +6 above the relegation zone. For the Biancocelesti, it's a third match without a win and worrying signs ahead of the season finale.
Torino takes the lead in the 21st minute with a chaotic play: Duván Zapata tries a shot from the edge of the box, the ball is deflected and lands perfectly at the feet of Giovanni Simeone.
The "Cholito" anticipates Ivan Provedel's exit, while Luca Pellegrini tries in vain to cover: the deflection is successful and makes it 1-0 for the Granata.
Simeone then celebrates with the dance from the song 'Per sempre sì' by Sal Da Vinci, which won last night's 76th edition of the Sanremo Festival.
Torino makes it 2-0 with a splendid team move. Lazaro releases Obrador on the wing, who delivers a perfect cross into the box: Duván Zapata rises above Provstgaard and heads it in.
The Colombian returns to scoring after 3 months: his last goal was against Milan on December 8th.
Duván Zapata reaches 126 goals, overtaking Gonzalo Higuain , who is stuck at 125: now the Colombian has Shevchenko in his sights at 127.
Lazio hasn't found the net in over 310 minutes: for the third match in a row, Sarri's team fails to score.
The last goal for the Biancocelesti was at the 47th minute of Juventus-Lazio, scored by Isaksen : since then, no goals against Atalanta , Cagliari , and Torino.
There's a stat that sums up the Romans' struggles: in 2026, no goals have come from the strikers, namely Noslin Maldini, Ratkov, and Dia, those who have played as the main attacking reference.
