NBA teams help push their main guys' All-Star hopes by making social media posts reminding and urging their fans to vote for their best players. That's what the Golden State Warriors recently did on Instagram.
However, instead of thanking his team for the support, Warriors guard Jimmy Butler got real and commented on the post by telling fans not to vote for him as an All-Star. Instead, Butler suggested that someone start a GoFundMe fundraising campaign to send him on a trip to Barbados instead during All-Star weekend.
A "Help Jimmy Butler III recharge in Barbados" is live on GoFundMe
Jimmy did not say why he didn't want the fans to vote for him, but with the way he is playing so far this season, he isn't All-Star worthy, and he may have been honest enough to admit it with his comment.
In 25 games played in the 2025-26 campaign, Butler has averaged just 19.8 points, 5.6 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.5 steals per game for the Warriors, with shooting splits of .515/.442/.853. Actually, those numbers are better than his production from last season, but with many other players around the league playing exceptionally well early on, it appears that Jimmy is honest enough to admit he does not deserve to be voted as an All-Star, and he's just being realistic. On top of it, he is a known jokester, so he decided to have a little bit of fun.
If you check out the GoFundMe website, a certain Edgar Aritzmendi from Chicago has already started a campaign for Butler called " Help Jimmy Butler III recharge in Barbados ." So far, there are no donors yet, but we all know fans can be outlandish.
"Hello, I'm raising money for Jimmy Butler III to go to Barbados this upcoming All-Star break. This NBA season, Adam Silver has decided to F them up, and rest is much needed to get a very performative second half of the season, including playoffs," Aritzmendi said.
Gil recently suggested bringing Butler off the bench
Indeed, much has been discussed about the Warriors' tough schedule to start the year, and it has been highlighted by head coach Steve Kerr. However, prior to the Dub's home and away schedule against the Phoenix Suns , Jimmy had a string of four consecutive games where he attempted 11 or fewer shots per game, with the Warriors going 1-3 during that stretch. That led to Gilbert Arenas criticizing Butler on his podcast, saying he is hurting the team's offense and that it might be best if they just let him come off the bench .
"When you take a look at his movements on what made him great, he understands when you need big buckets, when you need those 8-0 runs, cuz they haven't been paying attention to me, I can f–k some people up," said Arenas. "You have to be Klay. You have to be KD. You have to be Jimmy in the playoffs. You can't be Draymond Green because if you got two Draymonds out there, who are you passing to? Post? What Post gon' do?"
Well, Jimmy might have heard Gil and the others who criticized him for being too passive because he averages 28 points per game on 19 field goal attempts in the Dubs' two games against the Suns. Despite that, he still doesn't deserve an All-Star spot, and he is being real enough to admit it.
