- Sooners in the 2026 NFL Draft: R Mason Thomas goes 2nd round while 6 other Sooners get drafted
As the NFL Draft concluded, the Sooners were flying off the board on the final day.
In the 2026 NFL Draft, the Oklahoma football team had seven players taken in the seven rounds and had six Sooners get their name called Saturday, marking the most in a single day since 2005.
This is the most picks from OU since 2022 when seven Sooners also got drafted.
R Mason Thomas , defensive end
- 2nd round, 40th pick — Kansas City Chiefs
Thought to be a potential first-rounder, Thomas finds his home not too far from Oklahoma.
The Chiefs drafted Thomas in the second round Friday, adding to its already-dominant defensive line.
Thomas is smaller for the normal size of an NFL edge, but he's a sure-fire pass rusher who's got a quick first step.
Thomas' ability to get around the edge and rush the passer is why he went in the second round.
He joins former Oklahoma offensive lineman Creed Humphrey , offensive lineman Wanya Morris , long snapper James Winchester and defensive end Ethan Downs in Kansas City .
Febechi Nwaiwu , offensive lineman
- 4th round, 106th pick — Houston Texans
On day three of the draft, the Sooners started flying off the board, starting with Nwaiwu.
The Houston Texans drafted Febechi Nwaiwu in the fourth round, getting him for depth on their O-Line.
Nwaiwu is certainly a fine depth piece to start his career as he's had experience all over the line at guard and center.
Gracen Halton , defensive lineman
- 4th round, 107th pick — San Francisco 49ers
In back-to-back picks, the Sooners had two go off the board with Halton going after Nwaiwu.
The 49ers took Halton in the fourth round, adding Halton to their high-powered interior defensive lineman core.
Halton got a lot of buzz to go day two of the draft, but ultimately went day three to the Niners.
He joins former Sooner players O-Lineman Trent Williams and tight end Brayden Willis in San Fran.
Kendal Daniels , linebacker
- 4th round, 134th pick — Atlanta Falcons
After a season in Norman, Daniels boosted his draft stock and went to Atlanta.
The Falcons took Daniels at the backend of the fourth round Saturday, adding him to their growing core of defensive backs and linebacker groups.
Daniels started college at Oklahoma State as a safety, but transitioned to linebacker in his third season. When he moved to OU this offseason, he played the cheetah role in the Sooners' defensive scheme, getting experience dropping into coverage and blitzing the quarterback.
He joins former OU corner Billy Bowman Jr . on the Falcons roster.
Robert Spears-Jennings , defensive back
- 7th round, 224th pick — Pittsburgh Steelers
Spears-Jennings finds his landing spot up north where the draft took place.
The Steelers took OU safety Robert Spears-Jennings in the seventh round Saturday, adding a speedy defensive back to its defense.
RSJ had one of the fastest 40-yard dash times at the combine in February, running a 4.32.
Jaren Kanak , tight end
- 7th round, 225th pick — Tennessee Titans
After one season as a tight end, Jaren Kanak got drafted late Saturday.
The Tennessee Titans took Kanak in the seventh round, hoping to further develop Kanak into a tight end.
Kanak showed promise last season in his lone season as a tight end for the Sooners. He earned the starting role quickly and became a go-to target for OU quarterback John Mateer .
Deion Burks , wide receiver
- 7th round, 254th pick — Indianapolis Colts
After falling from a projected mid-draft selection, Burks finally heard his name toward the end of the draft.
The Indianapolis Colts took Deion Burks with the fourth-to-last pick in the draft, selecting a speedy receiver.
Burks was projected as a fourth-round pick by most outlets, but almost fell out of the draft. The Colts took him late, but got Burks, who caught 57 catches for 620 yards last season.
Damonic Williams , defensive lineman
- UDFA — Arizona Cardinals
Keontez Lewis , wide receiver
- UDFA — Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Jaydn Ott , running back
- UDFA — Kansas City Chiefs
Marvin Jones Jr. , defensive end
- UDFA — Seattle Seahawks
Other Notable Draftees:
Jeremiyah Love , Jadarian Price go first round
Love and Price, Notre Dame running backs, were taken in the first round of this year's draft, marking the fourth time two running backs from the same college got taken in the first round.
Though, this is significant for the Sooners because Love and Price were recruited and developed by OU's new running backs coach Deland McCullough.
McCullough was with those backs for the first couple of seasons of their college career before McCullough went to the NFL last season to coach the Las Vegas Raiders ' RB room, which included top-10 pick running back Ashton Jeanty.
Sooner transfers get drafted
A few former Sooners were drafted in this year's draft, including wide receiver Brenen Thompson and running back Seth McGowan .
Thompson, who spent 2023-24 with the Sooners, got picked in the fourth round by the Los Angeles Chargers . Thompson caught for more than 1,000 yards last season with Mississippi State and is now one of the fastest receivers in the NFL.
McGowan has had a long journey to the NFL, but got drafted by the Colts in the seventh round.
McGowan played for the Sooners in 2020 and, as a freshman, got significant playing time in the backfield.
He was dismissed the next spring after pleading guilty to a felony. He spent three seasons out of football, but played at Butler Community College in 2023.
In 2024, McGowan went to New Mexico State then transferred to Kentucky this past season where he rushed for 725 yards and 12 touchdowns.
