'Sorry' £277k per week Liverpool star is about to be replaced
Liverpool have spent a lot of money securing new contracts for key performers in recent months.
In particular Premier League title winners in midfield have been rewarded for their strong form. Dominik Szoboszlai is the latest recipient of a new deal - catapulting the Hungarian into the top category of Liverpool earners.

The playmaker's new contract came in the wake of Ryan Gravenberch getting a new deal. The Dutchman is now earning around £277k per week according to the best estimates but the Anfield side are not getting value from that deal at present.
Liverpool getting no value from Gravenberch deal
Gravenberch, 24, came to Liverpool from Bayern Munich in 2024 as a No8 - but had a brilliant 2024/25 season under Arne Slot in defensive midfield.
The Ajax academy graduate was a revelation - making a new contract seem like a no-brainer for former sporting director Richard Hughes.
Right now though it looks as if Liverpool have been saddled with a very expensive mistake. Gravenberch has been all over the place this season - with a red card against Manchester City and another terrible outing against Chelsea in the EFL Cup in midweek.

With Trey Nyoni breathing down his neck Gravenberch has been warned he faces a significant battle to remain in the team for this weekend's crunch Premier League clash against Arsenal.
Gravenberch could be dropped for Arsenal tie
That's according to a report in the Liverpool Echo - which describes Gravenberch as a sorry-looking footballer in the game against Xabi Alonso's Blues.
"Gravenberch looked sorry for himself in a performance where he was well below his best levels," the report reads.
"It appeared the Dutchman had turned a corner against Manchester City, only to be sent off in the second half.

"Now, he faces a battle to retain his place against Arsenal on Sunday - a game that promises an entirely different kind of ugly."
Gravenberch out, Nyoni in?
Nyoni, 19, has been used far more by Andoni Iraola than Arne Slot. The England under-21 call-up has put together a strong run of games - emerging from the Chelsea game with his reputation enhanced .
Far from going on loan to the Championship - which was suggested over summer - Nyoni has grasped the chances given to him by the Basque tactico to force his way into the reckoning.
A youth-team signing back in 2023 under Jurgen Klopp the silky smooth teenage talent now looks set to take over from his far more illustrious colleague in midfield.
