Leiecster have been placed on high alert by the decision, and are now well-placed to reach an agreement to bring Lundstram back to English football.
He spent last season on loan at Hull City, where he made 34 appearances across all competitions and played a key role in their promotion to the Premier League.
The midfielder has also spent time at Sheffield United and Rangers, where he was very highly regarded, and Russell Martin is determiend to add him to his squad.
Lundstram's contract at Trabzonspor was set to expire last summer, but they are prepared to let him go a year early, with Leicester now his most likely destination.

Why are Leicester City trying to sign John Lundstram?
Lundstram joined Trabzonspor from Rangers in 2024, much to the frustrations of the Ibrox club, who had been determiend to commit him to a new contract.
The midfielder has been highly thought-of at all of his previous clubs, with his impressive performances in midfield establishing him as an important asset.
Leicester are keen to be the latest beneficiaries of his talent, and have been made aware of his impending availability given Trabzonspor's decision to let him go.
Martin's side will not be forced to do a deal today in that case, with free transfers allowed to take place beyond the deadline, but work is ongoing ahead of tonight's deadline.
