The Spurs announced via the official injury report that Wembanyama has been cleared to play. He will return after a one-game absence to try to lead his team against Cooper Flagg and the Mavs.
Wembanyama sustained a rib contusion in Monday's win against the Philadelphia 76ers . It was not considered serious, but it was significant enough to force him to sit out Wednesday against Portland.
It is worth noting that Wembanyama needs to play at least 20 minutes in one of the Spurs' last two remaining games in order to qualify for the end-of-season awards. He is currently one of the front-runners for both the Most Valuable Player and Defensive Player of the Year awards.
