Cleveland Browns three-time Pro Bowl right guard Wyatt Teller wrote a farewell letter to the Browns organization on Wednesday. Teller is set to become a free agent in March.
"I wish things were different and this is hard to put into words. When Buffalo traded me to Cleveland seven years ago, I never could have imagined how much this city would mean to me. Ultimately, the Browns took a chance on me that changed the trajectory of my life forever … While we are excited and look forward to what the future holds, Cleveland will always have a special place in our hearts," Teller wrote.
The Browns signed Teller to a four-year, $56.8 million contract extension in November of 2021.
Teller was a fifth-round draft pick by the Buffalo Bills in the 2018 NFL Draft. He played one season in Buffalo before being traded to the Browns.
Teller had a breakout season in 2020, being named to the 2020 All-Pro Team, along with defensive end Myles Garrett , tackle Jack Conklin , and fellow guard Joel Bitonio . The Browns beat the Steelers in the 2020 Wild Card Round game, marking Cleveland's first playoff win since 1994.
Teller continued to dominate, earning a second-team All-Pro selection in 2021. He also made the Pro Bowl in three straight years from 2021 to 2023.
The Browns were unable to build off their 2020 playoff win over the Steelers. In 2021 they went 8-9 and 7-10 in 2022. They bounced back in 2023 with a 11-6 season and Wild Card appearance, losing to the Houston Texans .
The last two seasons were rough for Cleveland, however, going 3-14 in 2024 and 5-12 in 2025. The Browns fired head coach Kevin Stefanski after the season.
With the new regime in Cleveland, Teller will also be looking for an new NFL team. He should have plenty of suitors. Bitonio is also considering retirement, so it could be a new-look Browns' offensive line in Todd Monken's first season as head coach.
