- Stars Add Frontcourt Depth, Backcourt Scoring in Six-Team G League Trade

The Salt Lake City Stars made drastic roster changes Friday, landing big Jonas Aidoo and guard Terrell Brown in a six-team trade that sent Dereon Seaborn, Trey Townsend , and the conditional rights to Mo Bamba out of the Utah Jazz organization.
Aidoo arrived as Salt Lake City's headline acquisition. The former Tennessee center turned heads during Jazz summer league play in Las Vegas.

Aidoo exhibited his rim-running and rebounding instincts that made him a four-year rotational guy in the SEC.
He projects as an immediate option for a Stars team that will lean on size to complement Utah's perimeter-driven parent league roster this season.
Brown, a combo guard with NBA G League experience, gives Salt Lake City another ball-handler capable of playing on or off the ball.
His two-way scoring profile should mesh well with the Stars' backcourt that's expected to run its offense through pace and spacing under head coach Zac Claus.
On paper, what the Stars gave up is significant. Seaborn, a former NBA two-way player with upside, is on the move elsewhere after a stint with the Stars that never really translated to consistent minutes. Though he did average 31 minutes last season, he started in only 11 games. Townsend, a traditional wing in today's era, also exits the organization.

The most unusual piece of the deal is the rights to Bamba, depending entirely on the veteran center being waived.
It's a low-cost, high asset for Salt Lake City to include. It only makes sense in a multi-team framework where several front offices are gambling instead of making direct one-for-one value assessments.
Six-team trades are rare even by G League standards, where rosters churn constantly, and affiliate teams often prioritize matching their parent-club roster needs over concrete basketball value.
Deals this size typically require a mix of eager sellers, tanking-driven pieces and at least one team willing to take on an asset like the Bamba rights simply because the downside is minimal.

For Utah, the logic seems to be straightforward. Aidoo profiles as exactly the kind of frontcourt developmental big the Jazz have prioritized in recent seasons — long, mobile bigs who can be shaped inside their system before an NBA opportunity opens up.
Brown adds guard depth at a position the Stars can never have enough of, given call-ups and injuries during a G League season.
Like most trades done in the G League, neither move guarantees an NBA deal, but both players now sit in a development pipeline with direct ties to Utah.
Aidoo will be one of the more closely watched Stars this season after his flashes in the Summer League, where in one game he posted 16 points and 14 rebounds. He is the kind of player whose G League workload could shape the Jazz's frontcourt evaluations as soon as the winter.

Salt Lake City opens its regular season with a retooled roster with a clear purpose of developing its players.
Get Aidoo reps at the five, let Brown run the offense, and see whether either forces his way onto Utah's radar before the deadline.
